When my best friend asked me to be her chief bridesmaid I was really excited about her big day, because it finally meant I could organise her hen party. I'd got a big night out with the girls planned for the evening, so I wanted to book something just as exciting for the day.

After looking into a couple of different activities I decided to book an off-road driving experience for the bride and her three bridesmaids – including myself of course! The girls were really excited to give it a go, and even though none of us had tried anything like 4x4 driving we couldn't wait to be let loose on the course.

When the bride's big day finally arrived I met the rest of the girls at the off-roading centre, and they'd already been eyeing up the course! Before we could get our off-road driving experience under way though we had to complete a short briefing, which covered some of the different driving techniques. By the time the briefing was over we were all raring to get behind the wheel, and even though the course looked quite daunting we knew we'd absolutely smash it.

We all squeezed into one 4x4 and took it in turns to drive, thankfully there was an instructor with us too because without her I think we'd probably still be stuck there now! The course was a lot harder than I'd expected but it was really good fun, and the girls in the back did nothing but laugh. I got my own back though when they were driving, and I had just as much fun being a passenger.

The course was made up of loads of different obstacles, and despite getting stuck on more than one occasion we managed to make it round in one piece. Our instructor taught us how to negotiate mud, ditches and even water, so we were practically off-road experts by the end! The girls loved taking on the course, and I scored some serious brownie points with the bride. So if you're looking for the perfect hen party activity I'd definitely recommend an off-driving experience.
