I’ve been a petrol head for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, I was always taking part in as many karting and quad biking activities as I could, then got my provisional licence as soon as I turned 17. It only took me a few months to past my test, because I was that obsessed with getting my first car! Since then, not much has changed- although I’m still looking for as many new opportunities to get behind the wheel of some of the most fast and furious engines around.
If you told me the most fun I could possibly have behind the wheel was in an engine that struggles to go faster than 5mph, I would have laughed in your face. But after my folks treated me to a Mud Mayhem driving experience for my 19th birthday, I decided to give it a go. I haven’t done as much off road driving as I’d like to- and that is where the driving gets really wild, just how I like it! I was really looking forward to take part, especially as this was a once in a lifetime experience you don’t get everyday. As good as my car is, I doubt it could handle all these muddy roads and dirt tracks.
When I arrived on the site, the instructors were really friendly and incredibly helpful getting me into the swing of things. I may have a driving licence and be obsessed with motor sports, but even that didn’t prepare me for the madness that came hand in hand with riding on this site. The long winding off road trail ran for miles around different farmland and woodland tracks, all with plenty of obstacles along the way. I never knew that driving so slowly could be as intense as it was here!
From the vehicle I was driving in to the track itself, there wasn’t a single thing about the day that didn’t leave me feeling completely exhilarated. I am desperate to return for another dose of the action and hopefully go on a longer trek next time. With hundreds of acres of the countryside to explore, there are definitely wilder, muddier tracks out there waiting to be discovered!
